Karl Andrew Campbell started thinking about the ARMY when he was involved with the Army JROTC during his High School days. Karl enlisted in the ARMY in 1995 while he was a senior in High School. He left for boot camp - Ft. Benning, GA shortly after graduation. He became known as Private Campbell when he completed boot camp. Private Campbell continued to Ft. Bragg, NC, and became part of the 82nd Airborne. During his stay with the 82nd Airborne, he decided to continue with his career and signed up for Ranger Training. Karl then returned to Ft. Benning, GA for his RANGER training. He becomes an AIRBORNE RANGER! He progresses through the ranks and becomes SGT. Karl Campbell. While in the Army was able to travel to places like Germany, Kosovo, Ireland, and Egypt for training. Karl's next move for his career was to complete his Special Forces training. The 1ST attempt didn't go the way he planned. He was transferred from Ft. Bragg, NC to Dahlonega, GA. After this transfer things started to change in military life. Karl needed a break from the Army, he departed ways in 2003. Then one day he missed that ARMY life and so he rejoined his brothers in arms in 2009. He was stationed with the 1ST Squadron, 75th Calvary Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10l5t Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, KY. His family joined him at Fort Campbell, KY in February 2010. SGT. Campbell and his brothers got the order to deploy to Afghanistan. During his stay at Fort Campbell, he became known as "RANGER KARL". They deployed on June 16, 2010, and we were notified of his death in Ba bur, Afghanistan on Oct. 04, 2010. SGT Campbell was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
